Some genuine community building via The Dream Support Network, in my home state of Hartford, Connecticut, at my high school alma mater. I admire the work Abdul-Rahmaan Muhammad (aka Mira in spoken-word performance circles), and he’s taken this Dream Chaser idea to awesome heights and has done a tremendous amount to encourage people to chase their dreams, in a short period of time.

I’m especially impressed, because I remember when his idea was in its beginning stages. He started off interviewing folks in the community, via a web-chat show, about the work they were putting in to chase their dreams, and I had the distinction of being his very first interviewee. I also profiled his work on my blog, Coffee Rhetoric, some time ago.

In about a year’s time, Abdul has opened up a center called The Dream Support Network in Vernon Connecticut, and travels across the state helping inspire and encourage people to work towards their best potential, doing the things they aspire to do… this, in addition to all of the other awesome things he does to help empower people.
